Kodiak's New R11 is a Huge Success

The first production units of Kodiak’s new R11 cold chain shipping container have just come off the production line. The Kingsville manufacturing facility is already preparing to ramp up for the next round of R11’s. The demand for these new units is rapidly increasing. Several government agencies, well known pharmaceutical and biotech companies have taken an immediate interest in this unit and its performance capabilities. The R11 is designed and manufactured as a smaller, more portable version of Kodiak’s R36 container. The R11 has an 11 liter useable payload area which makes it the perfect choice for smaller applications.

The data on the chart below is from an actual shipment from Houston to New Jersey and back using Kodiak’s new R11 cold chain shipping container. The unit was opened four times (note the temperature spikes) for payload inspection. The data logger was run for an indefinite duration and exceeded 8° C after 127 hours or 5.2 days.

The R11 continues to undergo a series of validation and qualification testing in a controlled environment. For information on the new Kodiak R11 cold chain shipping container or testing validations, please contact Harry Smith at (713) 686.1553 ext.15 or by email at hsmith@kodiaktech.com.

NASA Uses Kodiak Containers for Space Shuttle Project

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) www.nasa.gov has recently purchased two of the Kodiak F36 cold chain shipping containers for the NASA Space Shuttle project to transport adhesives from Huntsville, Alabama to Cape Canaveral, Florida. NASA’s first objective will be to perform a validation test. The objective of the F36 is to hold a 0° F +/- = (+10° to a -15° target with the focus being 0° F. Our validation testing at Kodiak’s Kingsville, Texas manufacturing facility did accomplish that for about a 90 hour period vs the 48 hour targets we were given. Both original F36 units were shipped out on July 14th, 2006. The F36 unit is Kodiak’s frozen, dry ice shipping container. Kodiak is thrilled about this purchase and the opportunity to work with the space program.

Review - BioHouston's Annual Luncheon

BioHouston’s Annual Luncheon was host to more than 350 life science professionals. “Molecular Metamorphosis” was the topic of discussion by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Acting Commissioner Andrew C. von Eschenbach, M.D. This was the first major speech given by an FDA Commissioner to a Houston biotechnology group.

Kodiak was honored to have sponsored a table for the momentous event. Kodiak along with nine distinguished guest joined BioHouston in welcoming Dr. von Eschenbach to Houston. Kodiak’s CEO, Don Pagel stated, “This was a very important event for Houston and showed that Houston is committed to developing a long-term biotech and life sciences community in Southeast Texas”. Don Pagel and the entire Kodiak staff would like to personally thank each of the following for joining us for this event:

Kodiak Advantages:

Value Point #7: Software Supported Monitoring System

A very unique feature of Kodiak cold chain shipping containers is the UN CFR 21 sub 11 compliant iLog data logger software. This software enables the customer to monitor a shipment without ever having to open the container. Kodiak’s onboard data loggers record both ambient and internal temperatures during the entire shipment. The software feature allows the user to download this valuable information for each shipment and can be used immediately to document the integrity and quality of the payload or it can be used later for testing and validation purposes.

Kodiak incorporates the use of Escort Data Loggers and Escort Data Loggers Software www.escortdls.com in its 36 and 11 liter cold chain shipping containers. The Escort Software can be used with any IBM compatible PC applications utilizing Windows XP, 2000, Me, 98, 95 and NT operating systems.
