D36 Dry-Ice Container: Kodiak's Method of Management

Kodiak offers two types of deep frozen or dry ice containers. The D36 Super Insulated Dry Ice Container and the D36-1 Dry Ice Lid Container. Both of these containers significantly reduce the amount of dry ice needed per shipment, per day. The handling of dry ice can be potentially hazardous for the person(s) shipping the cargo as well as the person(s) receiving the cargo. While most shippers who use dry ice for their shipments are trained in the handling of dry ice, , it is very rare that the receivers of these dry ice shipments have the proper training on the handling and disposal of dry ice. The Kodiak D36 Containers offers a safe, proven and effective solution for the protection of the person(s) on the receiving end of the shipment by eliminating their need to handle of dry ice altogether. No recycling or disposal of dry ice is necessary.

The D36 Super Insulated Dry Ice Container is equipped with a durable, lightweight, highly-insulated lid for maximum 5-day hold time. In this particular, container, the dry ice is stored in a small corrugated box which rests on top of the payload. The sublimation rate (dry-ice usage) is approximately 4 lbs. per day vs, the 10-12 lbs. sublimation rate of a comparable corrugated/foam shipping system.

The D36-1 Dry Ice Lid Container utilizes a detachable lid plate that stores the dry ice inside of the lid while Kodiak’s patented thermal shields help protect the payload. The D36-1 has a 4-day hold time. While the duration of the D36-1 is not as long as the D36, the D36-1 unit offers the full 36 liters of available payload space. The sublimation rate (dry-ice usage) is approximately 5 lbs. per day.

Both the D36 Super Insulated Dry Ice Container and the D36-1 Dry Ice Lid Container share to the same great qualities as Kodiak’s flagship R36 Container and the new, highly anticipated R11 Container. The Kodiak D36 and D36-1 require no external power source, these units are completely self-contained. These units are durable and reusable, and they maintain product integrity throughout shipping. The D36 and D36-1 can be used in a number of applications such as pharmaceuticals, adhesives, food products and etc.

Kodiak On The Move In Chile

Kodiak is excited to announce a new distributor relationship in Chile.  Dagoway Trade of Santiago Chile is an international importer of products and supplies to the Chilean Military.

After a presentation at the recent AMSUS (Association of Military Surgeons of the US) show in Nashville, TN by Kodiak to Rita May of Dagoway, a trip was planned for Don Pagel, Kodiak’s CEO, to visit Santiago.  Javier Labbe, owner of Dagoway Trade set up numerous high-level appointments with his military contacts to present Kodiak.  These calls resulted in an immediate RFQ for Kodiak R36 containers.  To test further markets, calls were made with local regulatory export seafood testing laboratories as well with seafood exporters with excellent results. Other meetings included a regional courier service as well as meetings with DHL Chile and LAN Chile (Airline, Cargo and Courier).

Don Pagel stated, “This new relationship not only gives us further inroads into international militaries and freight companies but has also opened significant opportunities into the food testing industries.  Dagoway’s enthusiasm for the Kodiak line should develop into a profitable relationship for both Dagoway and Kodiak.”

Review -  INTERPHEX 2006

The INTERPHEX 2006 was a good show overall. Inside sources reported however that attendance was down considerably from past years. Overall contacts and leads that we did receive were worth their weight in gold. As you have heard many times before, “it’s not the quantity, it’s the quality”. Well, this old saying proved to be very much true to the INTERPHEX Show this year.

Amgen, Baxter Healthcare, Sanofi-Aventis, Sanofi-Pasteur and Wyeth were among the hundreds of industry leaders present at INTERPHEX 2006. Kodiak had a great number of key people with a genuine interest and need stopping by our booth to discuss and request information on the Kodiak Containers. The main interests and concerns of people visiting with us were the same across the board; a durable container, a significant hold time, accurate data recording and spoilage issues. These continue to be the main focus of cold chain shipping executives.

With new FDA regulations looming on the horizon, more and more companies are realizing that the traditional corrugated and foam shipping methods will no longer suffice as an industry standard. New heightened regulations could decrease the margin significantly more in the area of product integrity.

To learn more about Kodiak temperature regulated shipping containers and how they can help you maintain the integrity of your product, please call (713) 686-1553 ext. 15 and speak with directly with Harry Smith, VP Sales & Marketing or visit us on the web at www.GoKodiak.com

Kodiak Advantages: Thermal Regulation Technology

Value Point #3 Patented Thermal - Regulating Unit (TRU)

Another advantage that the Kodiak Container offers is the effectiveness of controlled temperature regulating. By using a patented thermal – regulating unit or (TRU) the Kodiak Container is able to maintain on a consistent basis, accurate internal temperatures. Kodiak’s patented thermal regulating unit inside the containers lid controls the internal temperature of the payload

Because of the patented thermal regulation technology, there isn’t a need for adding additional gel packs to the payload area. This allows you to fully utilize the entire available cargo space of our 36 liter units and 11 liter units.

When using a Kodiak Container, spoilage due to temperature spikes is eliminated. Product integrity is maintained throughout the entirety of a 5-day shipment.
